Top ten American Idol finalist Sophia James and vocal specialist Crystal Barron smiling
I started working with Crystal at 13 years old. I wanted to learn how to belt, and she single handedly taught me how to do it not only affectively, but healthily and sustainably. She coached me all through high school, refining my technique and giving me tips and tricks to enhance my singing that I still use today. During my senior year of high school when I started auditioning for colleges, I was completely lost in regards to repertoire (what songs to sing). Crystal is a master at identifying the perfect song for each individual voice, no matter the genre. She helped me decide what songs to sing and coached me on each piece. Needless to say, I got into every college I auditioned for. I owe that largely to Crystal. I apply everything I’ve learned from Crystal to everything I sing. I certainly would not have been able to make the top 10 of American Idol, let alone get through the first few auditions (and Hollywood week for that matter) without the rich knowledge of vocal health and technique that I gleaned from Crystal Barron. Not only is Crystal an amazing resource for vocalists who want to improve their craft, but she is a wonderful person through and through. Her kindness simply radiates any room she enters and she is one of the most encouraging teachers I‘ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Every lesson with Crystal leaves me inspired and more driven that I was before I walked in. If you’re looking for a singing teacher, I can not recommend Crystal Barron enough. She is the best of the best.

VANGIE GUNN LEAD SINGER FOR GORDON GOODWIN'S BIG PHAT BAND AND VOCAL SPECIALIST CRYSTAL BARRON SMILING
Crystal saved my voice after a rough time with vocal tension. Since I make a living as a singer her work on me was invaluable! I fully endorse all the Crystal does. She is educated and has a great intuitive sense to address whatever issues you may have. I HIGHLY recommend her!

Crystal Barron is my HERO! She is the only person to accurately diagnose and help me find my voice again after experiencing extreme vocal discomfort. Our ZOOM meetings allow me to record and re-watch lessons, so I can take notes and review at my leisure. This helps me remain fully present and engaged during our lesson time. She’s your girl, wherever you may be on your journey!

Crystal is amazing! I have been singing for over 15 years, mostly as a classic musical theatre belter—-where louder and bigger is better. This belting was taking a toll on my cords and my range was disappearing. Within the first 4 lessons with Crystal she was able to free up my voice so much that I was able to sing notes I hadn’t sung in years—and with ease! Crystal really knows her stuff. She is a supportive, caring teacher and doesn’t let me get away with any old habits—and I LOVE that! Plus she can hear anything—with the slightest adjustments my voice goes from strained to free! Above all Crystal has a core passion for teaching and vocal health—two things I feel are imperative in a great voice teacher. If anyone is looking for a voice teacher I don’t hesitate to give them over to Crystal—‘cause this lady knows the voice!

I’ll never forget walking away from my first voice lesson with you. Pretty sure I told you then too—but it was the FIRST voice lesson I ever experienced that didn’t leave me feeling anxious, tight, and in my head. I now use what I learned from you in my own movement coaching! The body is truly is amazing. And YOU’RE even MORE amazing!!!

I just wanted to tell you how thankful and appreciative I am in how improved Jack had gotten with your help. And how much time you’ve spent with him in getting his audition songs and videos together.
Jack is very happy that he got into Berklee. And I can’t believe he got an audition with USC and an interview with UCLA. 😁😁 thanks so much.

Crystal has been an amazing guide and mentor for my daughter. Beyond helping students master technique, she also enhances their confidence and belief in their potential for growth. I love how she teaches her students that a healthy voice comes from a healthy body and mind. She’s the best!

I came to Crystal frustrated with my voice training. Due to the trauma I experienced during my BFA musical theatre program I was looking for a voice teacher who could help me unlock my full potential. Crystal’s wholehearted full body approach opened doors for me. She is thoughtful and treats each student as an individual on their own journey, not as a number. I can honestly say Crystal changed my life and I have hope again to be the singer I know I was always meant to be. If you are looking for a fantastic, nurturing, groundbreaking voice teacher - reach out to Crystal. She’s one of a kind and I am so thankful to have found her. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do!

Crystal was my voice instructor for 4 years. She really shows how much she values her students. She helped me identify how I can create “different” ways of singing. I am really thankful of her skills! All her body work does WONDERS! Take from her!

Crystal was my first voice teacher when I started Musical Theatre at the age of 16. 12 years later, this incredibly talented lady is still teaching me how to sing, never forgetting to remind me that I started with a five note range!!! What I appreciate most about Crystal is her constant NEED to continue her education as a teacher. This not only helps my voice to continue to grow, change and develop, but she also continues to grow with me. This is what makes her MY teacher. I was fortunate enough to originate the role of Jimmy on the 1st National Tour of Flashdance the Musical this past year. And what I hadn’t realized about touring previously was the beating the voice takes. Scenario: What happens when you leave beautiful humid Florida to fly to snow covered Minnesota and your voice freezes up along with the rest of the city? You call Crystal. Thank you Crystal for constantly keeping me vocally heathy. Whether it is on a small screen on FaceTime in a hotel room, or getting the chance to stop in while touring through the Segerstrom Theatre, you are always there. Can’t wait to see what’s next for us.
— David R Gordon, Professional Singer/Actor

I just wanted to thank you for all the help and support you gave C.R. while she prepared for
her college auditions. She couldn’t have done it without your talent and positive words.

You always motivate her to strive to do her best.
